BATON ROUGE, La. — The YMCA of the Capital Area is set to enhance its offerings with a new express location on Airline Highway. Scheduled to open soon, this 6,000-square-foot facility, located at 14241 Airline Highway, will feature an array of modern fitness amenities. Members will have access to state-of-the-art cardio equipment, a variety of free dumbbell weights, and other fitness resources, all available 24 hours a day, providing continuous access for all fitness enthusiasts.

This new express gym is part of the YMCA’s broader initiative to meet the growing demand for convenient and flexible fitness options within the Baton Rouge community. The 24-hour operation ensures that individuals with varying schedules can find time to prioritize their health and wellness.

Meanwhile, the YMCA is also undertaking a significant $30 million reconstruction project at the A.C. Lewis YMCA on South Foster Drive. This historic facility, which has been a cornerstone of the community for the past 60 years, is undergoing a comprehensive makeover. The renovation aims to modernize the gym while preserving its legacy, ensuring it can continue to serve the community for another 50 to 60 years.

The updated A.C. Lewis YMCA will boast improved facilities, advanced fitness equipment, and enhanced community spaces. The goal is to provide a state-of-the-art environment that supports the diverse needs of Baton Rouge residents. The reopening of the A.C. Lewis YMCA is anticipated by December 2024, marking a new chapter in its long-standing tradition of community service.
