BATON ROUGE, LA — Tia Mills, a prominent educator and community advocate, is actively campaigning for the Metro Council District 2 seat in Baton Rouge, with the election set for November 5th. Mills, who announced her candidacy earlier this year, is focused on addressing critical issues such as blight, food deserts, economic growth, infrastructure, and community engagement.

Mills has lived in District 2 for over 20 years and has dedicated two decades to educating students in East Baton Rouge. She currently serves as the President of the Louisiana Association of Educators and the Baton Rouge Branch of the NAACP. Her extensive community involvement includes leadership roles in several organizations, such as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the US Commission on Civil Rights Advisory Committee, and the LA Democratic State Executive Committee. Mills emphasized that her campaign is about building a brighter future for the community and expressed her commitment to working with the residents of District 2 to create a safer, healthier, and more prosperous environment for all.
