Louisiana's Economic Overhaul: Gov. Landry Calls Special Legislative Session on Tax Reform
BATON ROUGE, La. – With an eye on revitalizing Louisiana’s economy, Gov. Jeff Landry has announced a special legislative session to tackle comprehensive tax reform. The governor’s office highlighted the session’s mission to address the state’s outdated tax system and foster economic growth to benefit residents and businesses.
Gov. Landry underscored his administration’s commitment to transforming Louisiana into a state that attracts families, businesses, and job opportunities. “This session is about delivering on our promise to make Louisiana a competitive and appealing place to live, work, and raise a family,” Landry stated. “We have a historic opportunity to give teachers a long-overdue permanent pay raise, provide direct relief to workers, eliminate the tax on prescription drugs, and ease the financial burden on seniors.”
The governor's proposed tax reforms aim to retain residents and encourage out-of-state businesses to relocate to Louisiana. Landry hopes to chart a new path for Louisiana’s economic and social landscape by simplifying the tax code, providing targeted relief, and investing in educators.
Gov. Landry concluded that this special session is "a blueprint to move Louisiana forward," bringing fresh optimism for economic stability and growth across the state.
