Jayson Tatum Reflects on Playing with NBA Legends at the 2024 Paris Olympics
LAS VEGAS — Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum is poised for another career milestone as he prepares to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Tatum, fresh off winning an NBA title, shared his thoughts on playing alongside basketball legends during an episode of "7 PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony and The Kid Mero."
"I've been in the league for seven years, so I've played against all these guys," Tatum said. "I've faced Kevin Durant in the playoffs twice, LeBron James, and Steph Curry in the finals. I have a deep appreciation for them."
The St. Louis native reminisced about his childhood idols, expressing awe at now being their teammate. "Even before I got to the league, these were the guys I was watching. Now that we're on the same team, it's surreal," Tatum admitted. "During a recent photo shoot, seeing KD, LeBron, and Steph together made me step back and think, 'These are three of the greatest players ever.'"
Tatum's excitement is palpable as he prepares to compete for a gold medal. "We're all teammates now, aiming for that gold. The fan and the kid in me are thrilled," he said with a smile. "Despite winning a championship and feeling like 'the man,' having those three on the team is incredibly cool."
Vice President Kamala Harris recently met with the U.S. men's basketball team in Las Vegas, underscoring the significance of their upcoming Olympic journey. As Tatum and his fellow NBA stars prepare for Paris, their collective talent promises an exhilarating competition ahead.
