BATON ROUGE, La. — East Baton Rouge Parish Metro Council members Jennifer “Jen” Racca of District 12 and Cleve Dunn, Jr. of District 6 have secured another term in office, providing continuity and experienced leadership for their districts.

Racca and Dunn were initially challenged in their re-election bids, but recent court rulings affirmed their unopposed statuses. Judges found that their opponents were ineligible to run due to unpaid state income taxes, a Louisiana candidacy requirement. Parish election officials confirmed on Friday that the 24-hour appeal window had closed with no appeals filed.

In District 12, Racca’s only challenger, Joseph “Liberty Jesus” Clement, was disqualified for not meeting tax and residency requirements. District Judge Ron Johnson made the ruling on Wednesday—Racca’s continued leadership promises to bring stability and a focus on community-driven initiatives.

Similarly, Dunn’s re-election in District 6 was solidified after his challenger, Corey Smith, was found to have unpaid taxes from 2019, 2020, and 2021. District Judge Tiffany Foxworth-Roberts ruled in favor of the disqualification. Dunn's ongoing tenure is expected to maintain the momentum of his district's development projects and civic engagement efforts.

With these rulings, the residents of Districts 12 and 6 can look forward to sustained leadership and progress under Council Members Racca and Dunn.
