BRCC Launches Free Summer Math Tutoring Program

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is launching a comprehensive summer math tutoring program designed to enhance academic preparedness for middle, high school, and college students. The sessions will be held in the college’s newly opened Math Lab, located in the Cypress Building on the Mid City campus at 201 Community College Drive. The program will run from June 24 to July 25.

“Our new Mathematics Lab is an immersive learning environment that bridges traditional classroom learning with the latest technology,” said BRCC Chancellor Dr. Willie E. Smith. “This lab will revolutionize math education and empower today’s students. I strongly encourage students and parents to take advantage of this no-cost program and benefit from our skilled instructors who are committed to improving math understanding and appreciation.”

BRCC is committed to educational growth and accessibility, offering six weekly tailored sessions throughout the summer to increase student achievement. Tutoring sessions are available Monday through Thursday in various mathematics disciplines, including pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, business math, geometry, algebra, and more.

The state-of-the-art Math Lab is equipped with features designed to provide an inclusive and dynamic learning experience. Highlights include:

Innovative Workstations for Interactive Learning

  • Mobile Cyber Touch Tables: The lab boasts six mobile cyber touch tables, designed to facilitate interactive and collaborative learning experiences. The user-friendly tables are equipped with cutting-edge technology, enabling students to engage with mathematical concepts through touch, visuals, and digital tools.
  • Wall-Mounted Cyber Touch Units: Complementing the mobile tables, the lab features three ADA-compliant wall-mounted cyber touch units, providing an ergonomic and accessible space for students to explore mathematical concepts with ease.

Enhanced Visual Learning Tools

  • Wall-Mounted Clarus Boards: These boards enhance the learning environment, allowing instructors and students to visualize, brainstorm, and work through mathematical problems effortlessly.
  • Monitors and Cameras: Equipped with state-of-the-art monitors and cameras, the lab integrates seamlessly with the online student population, enabling instructors to engage remote learners and create an inclusive educational ecosystem.

Adaptable Space for Versatile Use

  • Collapsible Glass Wall: A standout feature of the lab is the collapsible glass wall, allowing flexibility in room configuration. It can transform a single large space into multiple smaller rooms or individual group study areas, accommodating full-class lectures or small group discussions.

BRCC's new Math Lab aims to provide a transformative educational experience, empowering students to achieve academic success in mathematics.
