BESE Approves New Policies to Reduce Classroom Disruptions and Streamline Teacher Training
Teachers across Louisiana will see fewer redundant training sessions under new BESE-approved policies, allowing them to focus more on classroom instruction and managing student disruptions.

The Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) has unanimously approved new policies aimed at enhancing classroom instruction by curbing student disruptions and reducing redundant teacher training. These initiatives stem from recommendations made by the "Let Teachers Teach" workgroup, a statewide effort focused on creating a more effective learning environment.

Comprised of over two dozen educators, the workgroup spent the year examining current school policies. Their review resulted in 18 key recommendations, all designed to provide teachers with greater control in their classrooms and reduce distractions that impede the learning process. The policies are expected to be implemented before the end of the school year.

One major aspect of the reform involves scaling back on repetitive training sessions for teachers who have consistently demonstrated excellence. By cutting down on unnecessary training, the new approach seeks to give educators more freedom to tailor their lesson plans to the specific needs of their students.

These changes reflect a growing commitment to support educators, streamline instructional practices, and enhance academic success across Louisiana’s public schools.
